Ghetto Rising 2 is a solid collaboration of artists working together to make this epic 13 track album. Sixteen individuals from various musical backgrounds came together to create, record and have a lot of fun.
Ghetto Rising 2 is the product of many sleepless nights. The musicians wrote the songs together with a “lets see what we can come up with” attitude. Whether it’s Blues, Metal, Hip Hop, Ambient, Lounge or Punk, Ghetto Rising 2 is a showcase of local underground talent. This is real music. This is anything but generic. This is independent Artists expressing themselves to the fullest.
Recorded at The Space in New Westminster each musician contributed instruments, gear and equipment to build the ideal studio for this project. The Space was a warehouse that local musicians transformed into a spot to rehearse, jam and throw rock shows.
As the shows got bigger they also got harder to handle. By September 2008 over 300 people would show up to each event. There were often more people at this small warehouse then there were at the local night clubs and bars. The Police would show up to almost every party. Fines for noise complaints were also threatened. Luckily for the Vancouver music seen Ghetto Rising 2 was completed before the great eviction.
