Born in Atlanta, Georgia, Heather was raised in Plano, Texas by her New York City native mother and Ohio native father. After graduating from the University of Texas at Austin and backpacking for a year in Europe, Heather left her Southern roots and headed west to California.
Heather began her music career as a singer-songwriter in San Francisco, then relocated to Los Angeles in 2007. That year she was named "LA''s New Artist To Watch" by Music Connection Magazine.
Heather has opened for Fiona Apple and Tori Amos at The Concord Pavilion in Concord, CA, and most recently at The Canyon Club for Keb’ Mo’ in Los Angeles. Her first album, Mosaic, released in 2007, is a compilation of songs, from soulful Jazz and Spanish classics, to intimate interpretations of some of her favorite songwriters’ material. Heather''s original song Sense of Me, from the Mosaic album, was awarded "Song of the Year" in the West Coast Songwriter''s International Song Competition and earned an "Honorable Mention" in The Billboard Songwriting Competition.
Heather has co-written and recorded with Keb’ Mo’ (Associate Producer on her upcoming album), Bonnie Hayes (Bonnie Raitt) and Narada Michael Walden (Jeff Beck, Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston). She has collaborated with music partner Jonathan Hayes on material for her upcoming album.
Heather has performed at the legendary SXSW Music Festival in Austin, TX; at Ground Zero in New York City; alongside the San Francisco Glide Ensemble Gospel Choir; and at Agape Church in Los Angeles, CA.
Heather''s second album, Heather Lauren Donavon, will be released in Fall 2009.
