Before gaining popularity in Japan with their first album, released in 2008, Monopolys was based in Yokkaichi City, Mie Prefecture. Thanks to the band''s success, Mie Prefecture - otherwise the least familiar prefecture - has been spotlighted. The prefecture is in the center of the nation and is known for Matsuo Basho''s haiku poems and as host of the F1 Japanese Grand Prix. It''s known internationally for the devastated industrial area in the movie "Mothra vs. Godzilla". There have also been two Yokozuna sumo wrestlers(Mie no umi/Futahaguro(Koji Kitao) from the prefecture.
Monopolys co-produced a compilation album "Ohayo" in which other bands from Mie are featured. The album is a collection of greetings from the ten artists. The word "Ohayo" means "Good Morning" in English.

★Overview of Mie Prefecture
Mie Prefecture is situated almost at the center of the Japanese archipelago on the Pacific Ocean side, and is part of the economic spheres of both Nagoya and Osaka. The climate and natural features are moderate, and its mountains, valleys, rivers, and the ocean are blessed with natural beauty throughout the four seasons. Almost 1/3 of the land area being natural park regions, such as Ise Shima. Ise Jingu Shrine is particularly famous and is visited by many tourists year-round. Mie Prefecture has been known in the past for its pearls, spiny lobster, Matsusaka beef, etc. and in recent years its amusement facilities such as Suzuka Circuit and Shima Spain Village have been gaining attention. Further, in 2004, Kumano Kodo, the pilgrimage road from Ise to Kumano, was registered as a World Cultural Heritage site.
★Iga-ryu Ninja Museum
Although it looks like a normal thatched-roof farmhouse with nothing special about it, various devices and tricks for defense are hidden throughout the house. In the museum, kunoichi (female ninja) act as guides, explaining hidden doors, secret passageways, hidden compartments, etc. and letting you experience them.
In addition, you can experience throwing stars, hidden doors, etc. in the Ninja Experience Space, or watch the popular ninja shows. (Please check open dates beforehand.)
★Matsusaka beef
An artistic product with fat distributed finely throughout and a soft taste, Matsusaka beef is made by sparing no pains in the raising of black cows, giving them lots of fodder including tofu lees, ground wheat, etc. making them drink beer when they have no appetite, giving them sunlight baths and massages, and taking them for afternoon walks.
