Toronto Producer/Engineer Fresh Kils has been in front of a soundboard since the early nineties. Earning his producer chops in the underground Hip Hop scene of Halifax, NS, Kils began working with a group of MCs that eventually formed the collective known as Backburner. Production work out of this camp includes projects for SJ the Wordburglar, Jesse Dangerously, Jay Bizzy, Ghettosocks and More Or Les.

As an Engineer, Kils has worked in music studios across the country with K-Cut (of legendary Canadian Hip Hop group Main Source), Saukrates, US
model/musician Tyrese and Hip Hop Producer icon Ali Shaheed Muhammed
(of Hip Hop’s early 90’s mainstay A Tribe Called Quest).

A natural extension of production work, Fresh Kils both records and performs his own projects. Partnered with DJ Echo, Kils has recorded and toured France as Mr. Quibble, provided musical backup for Halifax rapper Ghettosocks on tour in the US & opening for The Herbaliser’s DJ Ollie Teeba, Afrika Bambaataa, Sixtoo, Kid Koala, Pumpkinhead and performed with More Or Les at multiple shows in Toronto and Montreal including Harbourfront Centre and the annual Pop Montreal showcase.

Projects for Kils include a remix project for the CBC called “The New
Tonic” (partnered with Halifax producer/DJ Uncle Fester calling themselves the Extremities) featuring Tonic (members Doug Riley, Chris Mitchel, Jamie Gatti & Dave Burton), Ghettosocks, Kaleb Simmonds (of Canadian Idol fame) & ECMA Nominated producer/deejay Jorun. In addition, Kils continues to
produce and engineer for a number of Canadian underground emcees at his
Toronto studio Backburner Recordings; notably Red Ants (Urbnet), Jordan
Croucher (Half-Life) and Apollo Creed.
