Details:
“Origin” is Mystic Measures debut CD, produced in the “The Land of Enchantment.” It merges the ancient expression of native instruments with the futuristic edge of synthesizer sounds. The frequencies and patterns in the songs are designed to connect one with both the constant state of existence and the ever changing nature of creation.

Origin’s nine tracks fade into each other for 74 minutes of nearly continuous music, creating a relaxing, harmonious backdrop for individual contemplation, focused activity, or social interaction. Members of the band are certified practitioners in energetic medicine who include sound healing as part of their transformational work. They have a blog site that invites readers to connect with and participate in the creative process of composing music that can shift perception and open the door to new possibilities.

Jim Kinney plays the native flutes and hand drums, and doubles as the band’s sound engineer. Jim’s varied career has included doing Sea Air Rescue in the U.S. Navy, co-founding experiential drumming/dancing events called “The Ecstatic Experience,” providing life coaching and creative workshops for personal development, living and working with the Lakota people, and running a horse ranch. Currently, he co-owns the Santa Fe Harmony Center with Jennifer Peters, where they offer transformational arts and perform music in the Mystic Measures Band.

Jennifer Peters plays the synthesizer. Her “official” career spanned nearly 30 years in the medical device industry, with her last stint as the President of a small diagnostic company in Delaware. Off the corporate radar, Jennifer explored and experimented with alternative healing methods from many cultures and indigenous peoples, and earned an M.A. in Psychology in her spare time. Having started with an upright piano at age six, Jennifer loves the endless possibilities afforded by electronic technology; the ability to create sounds that can train one’s vibrations to higher frequencies and connect with a different reality. She co-owns the Santa Fe Harmony Center with Jim Kinney.

Kevin Brownlee plays a unique native drum “kit” and all types of percussive instruments. He grew up in Florida and Georgia, where he played Division I college football as an inside linebacker, and later earned an M.S. in Psychology. During school and after starting a counseling practice, Kevin formed several rock bands, playing standard drum kits and singing lead vocals. When he moved to the Southwest, he began experiencing the native culture and traditions and exploring sacred sites. Kevin and Jim created a unique drum cage that suspends five native drums - including a hoop drum as a bass with a kick pedal, a 25-inch ride cymbal, a cow bell, and gamelan chimes. Two other drums mounted on stands complete the kit. Kevin also composes music on the guitar and keyboard.

Jim, Jennifer, and Kevin created Mystic Measures to offer music that inspires people to rise above negative and fearful messages from the collective. Some say, “Drastic times call for drastic measures.” At the Santa Fe Harmony Center, they say, “Drastic times call for Mystic Measures.” Mystic Measures music invites you to sit back, enjoy yourself, and put attention to what you want instead.
