This album was recorded during a period when Baby Copperhead was squatting in an old East Village apartment that formerly belonged to Allen Ginsberg and Peter Orlovsky. There on East 12th Street in New York City, Baby Copperhead lived with childhood friend and collaborator, Brian Zegeer (visual artist). Inspired by the creative output of this apartment, from its history to its mystical air, Baby Copperhead captured his musical ideas on this one of a kind recording.
New York City-based performer and composer, Baby Copperhead, was transplanted as youth from Europe to Chapel Hill, North Carolina, and grew up on the sounds of American roots music. His pseudonym was chosen after he was bitten by two baby copperhead snakes at age 18. He picked up the banjo after playing guitar for several years and developed a personal approach to this old and hypnotic instrument. Baby Copperhead has performed with legendary freak-guitarist Eugene Chadbourne, members of Grizzly Bear, and composed music for Four Short Plays by Steve Martin(New Actors Workshop). His previous groups include Big Cream and A.C. Unit. Baby Copperhead has toured across the US and Japan and continues to perform in the NYC area.
