Biography:
The circumstances that formed TRADED TO RACINE began in February of 2002 when vocalist Raphael Alvarez, guitarist William Alvarez, and childhood friends, bassist Matthew Cargill and drummer Ian Viduarre got together to talk about rehearsing for the Florida dates of that summer''s Vans Warped Tour as The P-Brains, their previous pop punk band that had broken up in September of 2001. Joining them was Matthew Riffel, a friend of Ian''s, on second guitar. It was during these months of jams that the 5 of them decided to start some sort of new band, eventually settling on the moniker Forgotten Superheroes around the end of spring. Shortly after, things with Matt Riffel were beginning to grow strained and he parted ways with the others.

Being under the age 21, the idea was to form a band to progress their ideas of hope, and write music that was honest and helped excercise their emotional demons of growth and change. After some sonic tries and name changes, the group recorded a demo in Matt''s garage with good friend Brett Sours and Traded To Racine was officially born in May of 2003 with the line up consisting of Ian Vidaurre on drums, Raphael Alvarez and William Alvarez on guitars, and Matt Cargill on bass with everyone exchanging vocal duties. Of the four songs recorded, only two were released as the Crash&Burn/Havana Calm demo. The band went on a midwest/east coast tour that summer. In the fall, Ian left the band to pursue his education and shortly, Dominick Cruz, a mutual friend and local rebel rouser took over on drum duties.

The band began working on new songs and in the spring, they met with George Beswick at Swink Studios in Sunrise, FL to begin working on their next release. A few songs were recorded before a summer tour and in September, the rest of the album was completed. Released on Second Chance Records in November, the Our Hopes For Emit City EP was met with acclaim locally as well as with the bands peers. Martin Cargill, Matts brother and the owner of the label sent out the album to be reviewed:

PUNK PLANET 2005 - "The instrumentation here is great, with really solid, expressive, emo-style guitar work, slyly original bass playing and drumming that is perfectly relentless. The vocals come off as an afterthought as the strain is left audible. This works for the happy chaos of ''Disco Vietnam'', but not so much on the more straight forward songs." - Dan Laidman

AMERICAN MUSIC PRESS (AMP) Issue ..15: June/July 2005 - "This one is kind of like AT THE DRIVE IN meets THE JAZZ JUNE, with maybe a bit of BRAID thrown in for good measure. Three bands that have long since broken up. So they''re not copying anything current, and the sound they''ve created is not really like anything that''s been done before. So they''ve got that going for them. TRADED TO RACINE are an example of a band who can take their influences, blend them and work with them to create their own style, yet not come off as stale, rehearsed, and they''ve managed to avoid the kiss of death - the overdone sound. Pretty damn good. " - Matt ''Windbreaker'' Cote

A month prior to the release, Raph had decided to leave the band to pursue other interests. Before his departure, PJ Lloyd, a friend and local guitar virtuoso, joined the band. The Our Hopes For Emit City EP release show was Raph''s last. Pj''s second show was the day after. The band finished out the year playing locally.

2005 was a slow year. Somewhat filled with fits of misfortune. The band entered the studio again with George Beswick to record songs for a split release with friends in Therapy, PJ''s other group. Before completing the tracks, the band went on tour in the summer. Shortly after finishing the tracks for the now titled Fuck Yea! Mountains split EP, disagreements between PJ and Will led to Pj leaving the band in August. The split never materialized and the songs that we recorded were breifly released online via myspace and later on the out of print Turntable Propaganda!/Oh Blue single in 2006. At this time, a friend of the band and rock ''n'' roll extraordinaire, Kris Mui, took over on guitar duties. More writing ensued. Shortly after, PJ rejoined the band and the band had a three guitar player lineup, but this would be short lived. In October, Kris decided to leave the band to pursue other interests. The band dropped from Second Chance Records. Matt was involved in an auto accident that left the band vanless and him without transportation.

Setbacks aside, in 2006 the group managed to hit the road in March, thanks to George Beswick and his GMC YukonXL. In June, during another recording session for a new release, PJ left the band for the final time. The rest of the band went on a hiatus lasting 3 months. The band was again left with no 2nd guitarist, no van, and no warehouse...but things took a turn in the positive with the rejoining of original member Raphael Alvarez.
Will, Matt, and Dominick finished the recordings and briefly released them online via myspace. The band regrouped in September and began writing. Talks began of new releases, musical direction and possibly relocating the band to Philadelphia. These discussions and growing tension between Dominick and the others led to the band parting ways with Dominick in December.

The search for a new drummer was inevitable and in February 2007, after some auditions, Richard Salino, formerly of Boca Raton https://www.tradebit.comle punk outfit Grae and local cassanova, came in as their new drummer. The next several weeks were spent regrouping and relocating to a new practice space. In May, the band began practicing diligently and working on lots of new material. During this time, Will announced that he might be relocating to Indiana within the year which sparked talks of the bands possible short future. Tensions with Matt were now starting to surface as well while the group began planning their next release. In August, the group entered Contrast Recording Studios in Boca Raton, owned and operated by Richard himself, to record a new EP. The songs were more straight forward then the previous recordings and were structured in trilogy form. But these sessions proved to be very stressful, lasting several months and the tension between Matt and the other members was growing. In the spring of 2008, during the pressing process of the new EP, the band continued writing and soon had nine new songs. With the addition of an unused song from 2005, discussions began about recording a full length album. With Will deciding to stay in Florida and Matt engaged to be married and expecting a baby, the band decided to make the full length album their last and put the band behind them.

Meanwhile, the new EP, entitled Fourwords was released June 17, 2008. The album was met with positive reviews from the bands peers as well as those who previewed the album on the bands myspace page. The official cd release show was to be a month later in July. However this would not come to fruition as there was a major fall out with Matt over personal issues two weeks prior to the show resulting in it being canceled and Matt parting ways with the band. September found Raph, Will, and Richard rethinking the rest of the plans set for the band. It was decided to take a break from playing shows and the three prepared to record the rest of the songs themselves and release the final album as intended. Wanting to stray away from the stressful and overthought process of their previous records, it was decided to try and record most of the album live. Sessions for the ten song album began in February 2009 at Contrast Recording Studios with Raph and Will splitting bass duties. The album will also feature two songs with ''lead'' vocals from drummer, Richard Salino, a first for the band.
After several months, friendships were reconciled with Matt and the four have regrouped for a show here and there. Raph, Will, and Richard continued recording on various weekends in March and April.

As of May, the new and final album is nearing completion and will be released later in the year..
