This CD is filtered with a theme that conjures up the very foundation of gospel music.
Pastor Alvin Freeland is a native New Yorker that began his singing career at the tender age of three at the New Canaan Baptist Church in Brooklyn.
He has performed and recorded with such renown artist as: Elder Timothy Wright and the Concert Choir, Edwin Hawkins Music and Art Seminar, The Triboro Mass Choir, Bishop Albert Jamison and the New York State Mass Choir, The Men’s Chorus of the Gospel Music Workshop of America and Ms. Jackee’Harry known for her television role as Lisa on “Sister Sister.”
In 1996 Alvin recorded his first solo project which was self titled and released on the Music Quest/Benson label.
He has toured France, Switzerland and Germany with Queen Esther Marrow and the Harlem Gospel Singers as Musical Director and Featured Artist. Alvin also co-starred with Tramaine Hawkins, Sissy Houston and the legendary Shirley Caesar in the gospel musical “This Is My Song” a Vy Higginson production. To further express his musical talent 1994 he wrote, directed, produced and starred in his theatrical production “Good Old Time Religion” which featured an aray of traditional gospel songs of yesterday.
Alvin has been touring Europe since 1995 starring in his gospel productions titled “Harlem Christmas & Gospel At It’s Best.” Recently Alvin has returned from Vienna and countryside of Austria with his new creation “Gospel The Way It Ought To Be” where he was well received with standing ovations nightly. Pastor Freeland is considered to be an authority on the history of gospel music and its impact on American culture. Through this expertise he has been afforded the great opportunity of conducting several workshops at home and abroad.
Pastor Freeland is the Organizing Pastor of Family & Friends Christian Worship Center and serves and the Co-Pastor of the First Baptist Church of Brownsville (where he served as Mintister of Music for twenty years)in Brooklyn, New York. Alvin’s greatest joy is singing and performing with his own group “Alvin Freeland & Company”, who travels with him both home and abroad.
Pastor Alvin Freeland’s goal is to continue to travel all over the world singing and ministering to people of all walks of life telling them of the Savior, Jesus Christ the risen King.
