MY PERSONAL INSPIRATION:
This CD is close to my heart. I hope the music touches yours, nurtures you, and brings much peace and joy. I want to let you know a little bit about why I composed it, what inspired me and, to share why I started working with pregnant women and girls, some 5 years ago...
My first job after completing a degree in social work was with emotionally and learning handicapped children and their families. I soon learned that these parents didn''t know how, or didn''t take the time necessary to create a healthy bond with their babies.
I later worked as a music practitioner at a home for pregnant teens and teenage mothers. These young mothers had similar bonding issues. After doing additional research, including reviewing the latest findings regarding the healing power of music for babies in "The Mozart Effect," I decided to start a program for expectant mothers called "Mother''s Melody."
I had been composing intuitive songs of healing in private sessions for over 10 years and clients reported many healing benefits. I speculated that a personalized song composed specifically for a mother and her unborn child might be quite effective in creating a positive, comforting and nurturing environment for both mother and child. The results were very inspiring and I have continued providing private and group sessions for expectant mothers for the last 5 years. Some of the mother''s endorsements for this work are included below.
I recently received some national publicity about my work and many women called or emailed me about the Mother''s Melody program. Several wanted to purchase a CD for their pregnant friends and relatives. Unfortunately, at the time, I didn''t have such a CD. However, there were so many people that requested one I finally decided to listen and honored their request. Hence the birth of "Mother''s Melody."
I still have the "social worker" in me. When I compose music I can''t help but think about creating music that might meet the needs of my listeners. This 20-year creative gestation may sound a little clinical but I hope my passion for children as well as the love my mother and I share, interwoven in these melodies, comes through as my inspiration! In fact, I composed the title track in her living room. Her home, which looks out over the Pacific Ocean is place that nurtures my creative soul.
We have to give children every possible resource available, both internal and external, so they may thrive in today''s world. What better place to start than in the womb?
