Details:
Kentucky T. Dutchersmith and The Rubber Band is a fun, high-energy, family-oriented band. Their music has been described as creative, bluesy folk-rock, socially conscious,
humorous, eclectic and original. Kent, being a musician, a father and an elementary school teacher who was sick and tired of children’s music that kids loved but drove parents crazy, had a dream of producing music that would appeal to both children and adults. His songs focus on everyday situations, such as Sunday morning waffles, a bad hair day, and what to do when you''re feeling bored.

KTD and The Rubber Band released their second CD, "If You’re Not Goin'' Far," in January 2006. Their first CD, "Mama Don''t Allow No Nose Flute Playin'' ''Round Here," debuted in February of 2004. Both CDs have received rave reviews from both children and adults, but it is a proven fact that the music will drive adults crazy if children play either CD more than 10 times a day for periods longer than a week.

Three families make up the Rubber Band Family and include: Kentucky T. "Kent" Dutchersmith (lead vocals, bass, nose flute); Teresa Dutchersmith (vocals, melodica, percussion); Brian Kruschwitz (vocals, guitars, banjo, congas); LuAnne Harley (vocals); Deron Brill Bergstresser (drums, congas); Annette Brill Bergstresser (sound, photographer, CD designer); and children, adding vocals and fun on a number of the songs.

Kent “Kentucky” T. Dutchersmith has been playing and performing music for nearly 30 years. His signature instrument, the nose flute, appears three times on "Mama Don''t Allow No Nose Flute Playin'' ''Round Here." Known in Northern Indiana as a nose flute virtuoso, he has performed the Concerto Pomposo (The Nose Flute Concerto) with the Maple City Chamber Orchestra (Goshen, IN). Kent enjoys singing, writing songs, playing a variety of instruments and learning new instruments. He has played in orchestras, jazz ensembles, rock bands, folk groups and church music groups. This experience and variety is reflected in KTD and The Rubber Band''s music. When he’s not working up one-person medlies for cello/noseflute/flippers, Kent spends his days teaching elementary music and English as a Second Language, and playing with his daughters.

What do others say about KTD and The Rubber Band?
“There''s something really generous about their music... there''s a love that comes through.”
“Rooted in American folk, with a touch of the blues, the band''s upbeat melodies seem to capture the whimsical nature of childhood.”
“''Bad Hair Day'' [from "Mama Don’t Allow...") has been ground to a fine dust in our house because we play it so much!”
“My daughter has spent about 3 hours in front of your new CD just dancing away. My only complaint is that they''re trying to sing and gurgle water at the same time!”
“My father loved it, probably as much as any 6-year-old you know.”
“Thanks for helping us out in our journey of teaching peace to our children.”
