Details:
Kim Richardson started writing songs and playing guitar at a very young age in her hometown of Little Rock, AR. After high school she followed her dream to Memphis, TN to pursue a degree in Music Business from the University of Memphis. During college, Kim played songwriter open mics with the Memphis Songwriters Association and soon gained a budding audience.
Kim''s music reflects her influences: Mary-Chapin Carpenter, Bruce Springsteen, Sarah Harmer, Cheryl Wheeler, and Rob Thomas. Her honest and believable lyrics together with her catchy blend of country, pop, and folk create a style all her own.
Kim''s live performances are more than just live music, they are music-driven funfests. Always aware of her crowd, Kim uses her quick wit to tailor each show to the audience at hand.
What once were three-song spots in open mics are now solo evening sets in local music venues. Her talent has attracted the respect of fellow musicians in Memphis as well. Kim has become a highlight of the Memphis Troubadours, a revolving group of songwriters who perform weekly in Memphis. She is also the only female artist on the Memphis Troubadours compilation CD, "Three Chords and The Truth." Other achievements for 2001 include performing at The Bluebird Cafe in Nashville, TN, winning the World''s Largest Open Mic Night at Mars Music in Nashville, performing at the Georgia Music Industry Association''s Songwriter Showcase in Atlanta, GA, adding harmony vocals to Cory Branan''s CD "The Hell You Say," and releasing her debut CD in March 2002.
Recent festival appearances include Memphis in May (Memphis, TN), The Great Southern Food Festival (Memphis, TN), Tin Pan South (Nashville, TN), and the King Biscuit Blues Festival (Helena, AR).
