THE SHORT STORY:
k i n e t i c knew each other when and they know each other now, first in empty suburbia, now in the frantic city. During the making of Sun & Glacier, Colombo blew out his knee, Brendan was hospitalized for panic attacks and Lupo consummated sordid trysts in seedy motor lodges. They think the album sounds pretty good regardless.
.....Depending on what you are after, choose an area, a more or less populous city, a more or less lively street. Build a house. Furnish it. Make the most of its decoration and surroundings. Choose the season and the time. Gather together the right people, the best records and drinks. WHAT A FRENCH MACHINE THINKS: To synthesize the gilded sounds of independent American, mixing to ring it, the Hill airs of Chapel with the noise and the New York atmosphere in a preparation refreshing in ecstasy and sad, aggressive and intoxicate. These are songs that know to read and write. Dry noises executed with the passion, combining the astral noisy guitar, the low one of down and propulsive plays the drum in a dreamer washes hope and of beauty.

k i n e t i c fled the parking lots and empty fields of suburbia for the bright lights of the city.
December 2004 saw the release of an eponymous EP, a sunny blend of psychedelic pop and atmospheric noise that garnered favorable attention in the Village Voice and Time Out New York. The band played show after show around New York City.
They soon founded a style based on fuzz-driven bass, sparkling guitars and intricate rhythms. Their live shows evolved into continuous 40-minute wall-of-sound blasts of energy, a sonic swirl built around one plaintive voice.
In September 2005 k i n e t i c sequestered themselves in the studio with Pete Min, noted for his work with Longwave and Sea Ray, to begin recording a full-length album that would be the culmination of youthful ambition and nights spent wrestling sound from busted amplifiers in dusky clubs.
The experience stretched their psyches to the point of panic and their finances to the point of collapse, but from the brink of calamity emerged Sun & Glacier. This is the opening shot in the fight against boredom, emptiness and apathy and a complete, coherent portrait of young lives under the sway of romance, regret and rock and roll. Ten songs filled with love, hope, noise and beauty. An album you can live by from a band you can care about.
