After 35 years as a performing musician (augmenting his performances with directing, teaching, and producing off-Broadway shows), Ken traded the stages of the Central City (Colorado) Opera House, New York, and various cross country places in between singing musical comedies and opera, to “retire” to the beautiful mountains of Colorado. He has traded in his grease paint and glitter for a cowboy hat, boots and a guitar.
Fran has spent years of working as a professional Registered Nurse and performing in New York City where she specialized in folk music and gospel music. The two met in a Victor Herbert Musical, The Fortune Teller and married in 1964.
Both are performing members of the Western Music Association , where in 2002 they won the Best Harmony Duo competition, and have released a CD and tape. They are favorites among the local populace of their area where their performances range from various church group functions, luncheons, and dinner entertainment, local productions to organized concerts in the 178-seat local theater, and the Wet Mountain Western Days Festival in their hometown of Westcliffe, CO.
Between them, they have performed in New Your city, Philadelphia, Central City, Co., Illinois, Wisconsin, North Dakota, Montana, Nebraska, Arizona, Texas, Louisiana, and various other places.
They have performed their popular “Wagonmaster” shows in Arizona and Colorado, for the Pines Ranch, Horn Creek Conference Center, and their local Jones Theater.
Ken and Fran also pamper visitors and tourists with their Cabin Rental Business in Custer County, Colorado and the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, so vacationers can enjoy the beauty and peace of the mountain ranges and the prairie ranches.
When not “hosting”, they’re singing! Or composing. (About 15 - 20% of their repertoire consists of original songs written by Fran)
