Lynn Biddick, Ghost In The Bed (Momentous Records, 2009 release)

LA CROSSE, Wis. – Berklee music grad. Boston busker. Co-founder with Gillian Welch of the legendary Nashville “Born To Cook” shows.
Now Lynn Biddick has come full circle back to her hometown on the upper Mississippi River to create the album that defines her career.
Ghost In The Bed is the first release on the new Momentous Records label founded by Grammy Award-winning engineer Brett Huus (Bill Miller, Michael Martin Murphey). On the album’s 12 folk and jazz-inflected tracks, Biddick’s expressive voice and piano and dulcimer playing are accompanied by a stellar studio band featuring Grammy-winning percussionist Terry Nirva (Bill Miller, Ariane Lydon) and ace bassists Larry Dalton and Tim Mullally. Rich Mac Donald, bandleader, educator and University of North Texas Jazz Studies alum, plays drums.
Standout tracks include “Open Road,” a Merlefest songwriting contest winner, and the first released recording of “I Don’t Want To Go Downtown,” a tune written by Gillian Welch for one of the “Born To Cook” shows – done here by Biddick in an intimate piano trio setting. “Devil’s Lake” adds the sweet six-string picking of acoustic guitar master Clay Riness.

About the artist
Born in the upper Mississippi River town of La Crosse, Wisconsin, Lynn Biddick started playing the piano at age five. She wrote her first song at age nine while riding a bicycle.
“My creative work has always had a multi-tasking element running through it,” says the singer-songwriter. “I have never done just one thing at a time.”
Biddick moved to Boston to attend Berklee College of Music where she majored in piano and composition. She started busking in Boston and Cambridge, which led to gigs in clubs and coffeehouses across New England.
Her interest in songwriting eventually took her to Nashville, where she recorded an EP with producer Brad Jones (Josh Rouse, Jill Sobule). One of the songs, “Open Road,” would go on to win the songwriting contest at Merlefest. While in Nashville, she also founded the “Born To Cook” songwriter show with Gillian Welch.
Biddick has now returned to La Crosse, where she continues her multi-tasking ways as a singer, songwriter, choir director, piano, voice and music teacher, and harmonium player in the Coulee Celtic Band. Ghost In The Bed is her first full-length album.
