---------------------------------------------------

Flesh Tunes is the debut release from gristlestick, one of the most unique bands to emerge from the Northeast in years. Forged in the small college town of Farmington, Maine, the band honed their skills with 4 to 5 nights of practice each week and weekly open-mic performances. In late 2005, gristlestick''s high energy performances and infectious hooks and grooves emerged as favorites in several Maine venues.

In November 2005, the band was approached by fellow performer and entrepreneur Jason "Sween" Mancine, who offered them the inaugural record deal on his new micro-indie label, The Sween Machine. Flesh Tunes was released to a packed house at The Granary Brew Pub in Farmington, Maine on May 11, 2006 in anticipation of the June to September continental tour that included 40 stops from Montana to Alaska and back.

Flesh Tunes is marked by energetic and well-conceived compositions, witty and intelligent lyrics, and blunt deliveries that push the boundaries of rock, funk, and folk music as we know it. Nothing is held back on the album, nor does the band hold back in their crowd-pleasing live performances. With songs like “Coke Anthem”, a tongue-in-cheek ode to the ups and downs of cocaine use and abuse, to the sarcastic “Toolbags” that extols the virtues (or lack thereof) of rock musicians, to the upbeat ukulele-driven bluegrass tune, “Train to the Other Side” -- Flesh Tunes is a cross section of the creativity and versatility that define this band.

From the high plains to the Arctic Circle, gristlestick''s Summer 2006 tour created a buzz and a healthy dose of controversy as it openly and frankly addressed the themes of sex, drugs, and rock n'' roll in a bold style that has rarely, if ever, been heard before.
