EASY LISTENING: Mood Music, NEW AGE: New Age

Details:
Jeff Gold’s “Soul of a Mountain” is easy, yet involves the listener. It’s spiritual, though not exactly new age. It’s more of a mood: a mellow place to go and gather strength and energy, to collect your thoughts. It is tender, soothing, melodic and uplifting. It will refresh both your conscious and unconscious mind. It will take hold of you, and take you away.

Jeff plays every instrument on “Soul of a Mountain”, including a Guild 12-string guitar, a Kawai piano, and synthesized versions of flutes, violins, cellos and bass. His favorite instrument is a 6-string Guild f-112. Originally a 12-string, this guitar was “downsized” (the result of an accident with a drummer) and became a one of a kind, warm and full, beautiful 6-string guitar. You can hear this guitar on almost every song.

Jeff started playing the guitar at the age of 9 and was composing music by the age of 14. He played in a few bands in high school, eventually picked up the piano, and has made a pretty decent living……as a Television Editor, working on shows like “Baywatch’, “MADtv” and “MTV’s Making the Video”.

Jeff made some films in high school and college, many of which were set to original musical scores. It’s composing and playing “filmscore” style music that he has remained faithful to during his “evening” hours. Over time, he has built up quite a repertoire of original compositions.

Jeff’s wife Diane designed the cover art for “Soul of a Mountain”. An avid photographer with a background in painting and graphics, and a lifelong fan of Jeff’s music, she was the perfect choice. Together, they produced about 100 CD’s by hand, and the response was terrific. This current version is not much different from the original, except the music was run through Disc Makers “Sound Lab” (a process Jeff highly recommends to anyone making their own CD), and the cover art was faithfully reproduced and also duplicated by Disc Makers.

Jeff likes to listen to all kinds of music. His ipod is filled with music ranging from Rachmaninov to the Foo Fighters, as well as artists like Joni Mitchell and George Winston. He has kept up with current music both from the TV shows he has worked on, and his 3 sons who always seem to know what is hot right before it happens (They love his CD).

Some may hear the influence of Keith Jarrett, Enya, or even Jethro Tull, or of the mingled sounds of flowing water, rising wind and the relentless caress of waves upon the shore. Forget seeing the world... “Soul of a Mountain” transports you well above and far beyond it.
