What is the Cambrian Party ?
Psychedelic, Cosmic, Indie, Rock.
The name takes inspiration from the Cambrian Period of history approx 500 million years ago. In this period there was an explosion of rapid evolution, forming the building blocks of modern lifeforms.
The music is a collaboration between Paul Hadden & Adrian Ball, all recorded in Geelong, Australia. Many of our songs explore themes of evolution and an imagining of what life will be when the human species makes the journey into the cosmos. When the accompanying short-films/film clips are released the full audio/visual symphony will be realised. Of course the music is totally open to your own interpretations.
History: After attending the same high school, we began playing regularly in 2001 but it wasn’t until 2007 that the initial recordings began being made.
Throughout 2007-2008 the Cambrian Party sound took shape. Using a BOSS 8-track we layered each song with sounds from a multitude of instruments and effects. When the music was being created, our motivation was (and is) to make music that we enjoy listening to. In February 2009 an electrical fault in the studio/workshop destroyed almost all the equipment we collaboratively owned and without insurance, it is a huge blow, but also a chance to re-build. The unique Douglass St sound we created is near impossible to replicate. All we have left is the music we recorded and the desire to share it with the world.
