Looking back on life how many times has God just reached in and pulled you through?
How many times have you looked back and said, "Wow! It wasn''t me, it was the Lord". That is what Gavin said to a crowd of Christian Brothers and Sisters at Rapha Restoration Ministries, as they praised the Lord and sang along with him to "Who''s Gonna Love You?" and "Everything", just two of the songs from his debut CD titled "Fear No Evil".

"I couldn''t believe it. It''s like it wasn''t me. I felt like I was dreaming. To touch someone like that, and to help someone come closer to God,..to share this makes even the most painful life experiences all the more irrelevant". Gavin adds, "Those past experiences and trials become worthwhile of the pain they caused when you can share them and witness to someone and help them to realize that the Lord has been there with them all along too".

That is what "Fear No Evil" is all about. "It really happened. I have experienced spiritual growth that has cultivated my immensely profound relationship with the Lord. I''ve really been "going through", as they say...but not alone. The Lord has been with me. From these trials I have grown stronger and closer to his glory. His love has manifested in me so that I have become a much better witness and minister through my music. I thank God for that".

Just two years ago a close friend of mine, and Sister in Christ Darlene looked at me with a glow in her eyes as I played the piano in our office while singing a song I was writing. She said, "that''s it Gav, that''s your calling, you watch!" Wow the Lord works in mysterious ways. Just two weeks later I visited Davis Temple in East Cleveland, where Elder Davis (whom I''d just met that day) called me up to play and sing the very song I shared with Sister Darlene. That''s amazing...no that''s God!

Now here I am almost two years later thanking the Lord for the many experiences, some good, some bad, but when it all boils down to it, they all glorify him. For instance, I have a good friend Malinda, who is a 33 year old Saint, who is serious about the Lord and her contribution to the Kingdom. We would spend hours well into the night studying the Bible together. One night she said that she felt "under attack". She said that she felt as if she was being attacked through her health. She was experiencing the worst headache of her life. But in the same breath she replied "The Lord''s gonna bring me through this". She said it with such faith and conviction. Little did we know, she was having a massive stroke. Our worst fears seemed to rear their ugly head, as her loved ones and friends listened to doctors give her a grim prognosis. We were getting prepared to say our final goodbyes to our beloved Malinda. I kept remembering what she said. The scriptures she would share with me, as I prayed, and prayed, and prayed.

Through that experience, as well as others that tested my faith, I have truly experienced the "Power of a Prayer".

Unexpectedly, her mother just called. Malinda is miraculously recovering now . She is regaining her speech and ability to walk. Only God can do that. Real miracles. When in the beginning the doctors said she wouldn''t make it through the night. Now that is the "Power of a Prayer!" That''s real.

"Power of a Prayer" is the first single from my forthcoming CD "A Praying Man." God is so awesome. We all have to keep the faith. No matter what we are going through we have got to trust Him and realize that the only thing that matters is what we do to glorify him. He is why I sing. He is why I write. He is why I play. It is all about Jesus. That''s me.

I am thanking Him for the good times and the bad. Realizing that I can''t complain. He has been so good. I''ve been so blessed to be able to commune with other Saints like Ronnie Knight the "Supper Saint" from Z107.9. Very few people qualify to be called a Saint and he is one of them. I''d like to thank Mike Calhoune, Grammy Award winning guitarist/songwriter formerly of the Dazz Band. Carl Price, an awesome producer and musician. Bernard Pettus. Darlene, Nicki and U Magazine. Kevin. The City News. Agape Christian Bookstore, Rainbow Christian Bookstore. All local record stores that have been supportive of my project. Diane, a loving mother, father, and brother/sister. My church, Glenville Church of Christ Holiness USA. Minister Michael Perryman of Faith Community Baptist Church. A man with a heart for God and a vision he could only get from God. Pastor James Jennings of Rapha Restoration ministries singing at your church anniversary and according to my people "it''s your birthday!"

Rory, Tate, Pastor Michael Exum, Emmett Harrison and Eastside Christian Reform Church. And last but not least my "little encouragements", Hannah and Gabrielle.
Thank you to Fellowship for letting me share.

God Loves you, and I do too!

Gavin
