As I was growing up, my Mom and Dad always gave me a toy instrument for my birthday and at Christmas time. My Mom loved singing but my Dad could not carry a tune even if he had it in a basket ( Ha,Ha).
My uncle Bill gave me a real guitar for my thirteenth birthday. It was a Golden Hawaiian acoustic. The body was a sunburst and the neck was gold metal flake with emerald inlays. It was a gorgeous guitar but the strings were about a half inch off the fret board. Never the less I learned how to play it.
Mom and Dad could not afford music lessons, so Uncle Bill gave me a book of guitar cords and showed me how to tune my guitar and put three cords together to make a song.
I tried to play along with the songs on the radio but could never find the right song to fit the three cords I knew.
So I started making up my own songs. I would write out the word and put the name of the cord above the word where the cord changed. You would be surprised at how many different melodies can be made up out of only three cords.
When I finished the song I would practice it over and over until I knew it by heart. Then one day my Aunt Jessie gave me a wire recorder. It looked like a real to real tape recorder but used wire instead of tape. That was the first time I heard my own voice through a “radio speaker”. I really didn’t like it but it was a way to preserve my songs.
When I was eighteen RCA cane out with what they called a Tape Cassette recorder. The machine was about the size of a small refrigerator and the cassette was a little bigger than a VHS tape. It wasn’t a real hot seller, so I got one cheap at a jewelry store.
Again, I recorded every thing I had. It was better than the wire but I was definitely not impressed with it.
In the mean time my two younger brothers got into music too. My brother Jack liked the electric guitar. We played at some school dances and private parties but I couldn’t get over the stage fright. He loved it. Jim played the Sax. As a trio we sounded pretty good.
Then I got married. I gave up the music to be an auto body repair man and painter and opened my own shop. My dad taught me auto mechanics so it worked out good for me but my wife was not too happy with my working hours. I wasn’t home much.
After seven years, she decided to find a new man. Some one who could give her more attention than I did, so she threw me out!
Naturally my depression made me turn to my trusty guitar for comfort. I wrote a whole bunch of heart break songs.
In the mean time Jack and Jim had been refining their music skills and playing bar gigs. Jim talked me into buying a four track real to real tape recorder and some head phones.
We set up a recording studio in Jack’s living room and began rerecording all of my old tunes and my new ones too. Of course we recorded Jack and Jim’s music too.
That summer we recorded two hundred, twelve inch reels of tape and burned up three sets of recording heads on the machine. We had two LP records pressed and six 45’s. We received excellent reviews from California to England and one 45 made it into the top 10.
Today I am recording something different. I always have told my stories in music form. Summarizing, rhyming and repeating the highlights of the story. Trying to let you know what I am feeling in my heart. But sometimes words and musical notes just don’t do the job as good as it should. So I decided to tell you the whole story. Not just a summery.

When my Dad died in 2000, I began to think a lot about the stories he told me, about his family history. I thought I might write some songs about him. I did some research on his, and grandpa’s stories and came up with the story of King Jonathan Bearce. This story was far to festinating to put into a song, so I decided to tell it to you on CD.
I know my Grandpa and my Dad would be pleased with it and I hope you like it too.
My father loved reading the Bible. He talked about it quit a bit. I sat in on a few of his Bible studies and really enjoyed it. So after his death I began to study too. I concentrated on just the first ten chapters of Genesis. It is amazing how many answers to commonly asked questions about God and life and death are answered by God in so few pages.
Again, I found these stories to be fascinating and I wanted you to hear them.
So doing what I do, I got my family together and recorded a play based on Genesis chapters 0 - 10.
If you know the Bible, you know there is no chapter 0. But in my chapter 0 you will find out how God became to be, and how he discovered He was the creator You will find out who an what He created first and much, much more.
I believe that all three of my Bible CD’s are well worth listening to. They are pure entertainment for your entire family.
