Married in 2004, Kenny and Leah’s wedding reception film was accompanied by Barbra Streisand’s breathtaking performance of Ann Hampton Callaway’s song, I’ve Dreamed of You. Leah was so taken with the song which now held such special meaning for both her and Kenny, they developed an entire album around this title track.
I’ve Dreamed of You also includes wonderful standards such as Gershwin’s The Man I Love, Lollipops and Roses by Tony Velona, the passionate Spanish love song Malaguena Salerosa, Nancy Wilson’s Save Your Love For Me, Sway, the English version of Quien Sera, the Academy Award winning When You Wish Upon a Star, immortalized in the Disney animated classic, ‘Pinocchio,’ and What a Wonderful World, first recorded by Louis Armstrong.
“Leah’s musical growth has been nothing short of astonishing. Her ability to move from smoky torch songs to passionate Spanish love songs, to a jazz version of a Gershwin tune is remarkable,” says Kenny.
Kenny & Leah regularly perform their special brand of music at cabaret venues and private functions around the country. A classically trained mezzo soprano and fluent in six languages, Leah is equally comfortable singing a variety of styles including jazz standards, Broadway tunes, Torch songs, Brazilian classics as well as the passionate sounds of Fado. Leah has recorded with Brazilian guitarist/singer Paulinho Garcia, performed with world renowned Jazz Steel Drummer Othello Molineaux, and noted jazz pianists, Kenny Drew, Jr., Richard Drexler and Judy Roberts, to name a few. An actress, singer and dancer, Leah has also modeled internationally, performed with symphony orchestras, big bands, (including Lawrence Welk) and has sung at many jazz festivals.
Kenny Soderblom, an accomplished saxophonist, bandleader and producer, has enjoyed a multifaceted career, contracting and performing with orchestras accompanying Frank Sinatra, Quincy Jones, Tony Bennett, Nancy Wilson, Rosemary Clooney, Peggy Lee, Lena Horne, Julie Andrews, Burt Bacharach, Benny Goodman, Mel Torme, Henry Mancini and Steve and Eydie, to name a few. Other career highlights include soloing with Sarah Vaughan and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and performances on a 9 country international jazz festival tour with Gerry Mulligan. Kenny’s professional background includes 8 years with the CBS/Chicago Staff Orchestra, 4 years as Music Director, Chicago Theater and Associate Music Director, Magic Mountain opening season in Los Angeles as well as performing on thousands of TV and radio commercials working as a free-lance musician.
