Details:
Ancient Pistol, from Boston, MA, is Mike Feeney.
The movie that scared me as a young''n was War of the Worlds, as imaged by George Pal. Mr. Pal was known for a type of stop-gap animation, called Pal Toons, which used interchangeable carved bodied and faces of puppets. Still the best version of H.G. Well''s story, George Pal is responsible for many childhood memories.
From Metronome Magazine (August 2008): Musician Mike Feeney handles all the instrumentation, loops, effects and noises offered up on his lo-fi Bear Hill Phenomenon disc. Just as interesting as his song titles, Feeney delivers a gaggle of sound bytes that whirr, clang and buzz. Not all of the sounds are enjoyable, but Feeney manages to keep things contemplative as he lands his musical spaceship from planet to planet. This album would make a great soundtrack to a B-movie sci-fi thriller
Recorded in the following locations: Hidden Fortress Studios in Brighton, MA. Mixing occurred at Hidden Fortress Studios April-June 2009; on the Acela Train enroute to Washington, DC March 2009 at 150 MPH; and the Embassy Hilton in Washington, DC March 2009.
Thanks to Sharon Lee, Jake Tobin, Cory Holmes and Lisa Herbert, my gang at work who have had to listen to me kvetch about this recording and Roger Miller, whose guidance is partially responsible for the ongoing recording career of AP. So blame him. And MySpace.
