“Guaranteed Double Platinum” is a strong statement to make, but it is the foundation in which G Double P was formed. In 1988,Antoine “Cash” Hunter, Michael “Money” Gilmer and Freddie “8 Double 0” Gilmer came together to create a true Chicago hip-hop sound that was definitely like no other ever heard.
In 1991, G Double P dropped a promotional single called O.C. to the 3rd Degree. Being from and for the streets, the response was overwhelming. Knowing it was only the beginning, G Double P gained recognition performing at local venues such as: Riviera, The 705, Park West, Red Dog and a host of others. By doing this, G Double P soon was off to performing in other cities and states across the United States: New York, Atlanta, Mississippi, Indiana, Iowa, Ohio, Miami and a host of others.
In 1994, G Double P formed their very own independent record company called 462 Entertainment. Keeping everything independent G Double P released their first album called “Why They Hatin’ On Us” which had the city of Chicago wondering if G Double P would be the group that brings recognition to a city that has been held out of the music industry for way too long.
With the year 2006 having already arrived, G Double P’s new album “La Cosa Nostra/Code Of Honor” is truly the best hip-hop to hit the streets. With 22 hot songs ranging from club... to street... to down right head bangers... you will know why they are “Guaranteed Double Platinum”.
