Trumpeter Glenn Makos has emerged as an improviser with a unique voice through his forays into adventurous harmonies. As a composer, his thoughtful approach provides material with twists that take the listener on an interesting musical journey.

His own quintet has performed at numerous New York jazz clubs, including Birdland and The West End Gate. He can be seen performing with the downtown group The Awakening at such venues as The Knitting Factory and Kavehaus. The group has received steady radio airplay in Europe and Japan. He has also performed with Grammy nominated artists Tim Hagans and Dave Taylor, pianists Brian Jackson, Joel Weiskopf, and D.D. Jackson, bassist Sean Smith and drummers Gene Lewin and Steve Davis.

A co-founder of the nine-piece group, New Jazz Resolution, Glenn has also worked with jazz singer Cleo Laine and saxophonist John Dankworth. As a trumpeter in the Diane Moser Big Band , he has played compositions by Jim McNeely, Oliver Lake, Howard Johnson, and Rufus Reid. In addition, Glenn has backed Liza Minelli, Neil Diamond, Jay Black and the Americans, Al Martino, Jack Jones, and Jerry Van Dyke. He has also toured with the show, Sophisticated Ladies, which features the music of Duke Ellington. Glenn''s compositions have been performed and recorded by the group NoNoNonet, the New York University Orchestra, and choreographed by the New York University Dance Department.

He has also given clinics and performances in the New York area at Brooklyn College, LaGuardia High School for the Performing Arts, Bayside High School for the Performing Arts, CUNY Graduate Center, in addition to the Moravian College Jazz Festival and PMEA District Band Festival in Pennsylvania.

Glenn has a bachelor''s degree in music from West Chester University and a master''s in jazz performance from the Manhattan School of Music. He is on the music faculty at the Dalton School in New York City.
