It all started way back when the Beatles appeared on the Ed Sullivan show, There I was 7 years old staring at a b/w TV mesmerized. I got hooked! Had a little transitor radio that I carried everywhere listening to my favorite AM station. The 60''s time of peace and love and Rock and Roll. In 1968 I wanted to go to Woodstock but it was impossible I was just a kid and my Mom just couldn''t understand what the fuse was about a bunch of "hippies" gathering together to listen to music.
During my freshman year in High School I was introduced to the sounds of Jimi Hendrix by my friend Chris Rodack (wonder where he is today). Every Friday afternoon we would meet at our school''s library to listen to music. Because of him I was able to go to Shea Stadium for my first live concert where Humble Pie and Grand Funk Railroad played. I got into more of the singer/songwriter thing with Cat Stevens, Elton John, Jim Croce, Neil Young, Carol King, James Taylor and others. I picked up a guitar at age 19 and started to write songs. But, my biggest influence was Punk! Sex Pistols, The Ramones, The Dictators, and everything that had to do with the NYC downtown music thing.
Tried out for a band, that fell through wasn''t good enough, but that got me motivated to practice and write and by 1980 I started my first band the "Quiz Kidz" with Mike Ferrigno/bass and Tony Damiano/bass. I kind of patterned us to one of my fav "The Jam". We played what I use to call "Power Pop Punk Rock". Our first gig was at CBGB''s. There was some interest by some people in the industry but it got no where. But we did record DIY album worth of material of which I still have copies of on cassette. We played the city for about a year and then my dream came to a stop when Mike decided to quit. I still continued to write recorded a 5 song demo at Mike''s studio. Did some open mics in the city and by 1984 I got the itch to perform again. Placed an ad in the Village Voice and hooked up with a Bronx base band "The Rave" with John Ford/guitar, Lee Nelson/drums, Fred Pascarelli/bass/vocals and myself on guitar and vocals. Short lived but had a blast. By 1988 I purchased a Tascam 424 4 track recorder and laid down many, many tracks to the point that I have close to 200 songs in storage archived.
By the late 80''s early 90''s I was married and had a business career. Music was still there but more as a hobby. Got divorced and I then decided to try it again. More open mics, started another band "Ocean In A Cup" with by old friend Fred Pascarelli from "The Rave on guitar/vocals, Eric Hoffman/bass, Tony (sorry forgot his last name)/drums and myself on guitar/vocals. Played some gigs, broke up the band and decided to go solo.
So after two years without performing and six years recording I have finally finished my first official solo CD.
