Details:
"What is most notable about this disc is the complexity of the song writing and playing. The tunes may sound easy and simple....but the arrangements and melodies are actually quite sophisticated...a 5 out of 5" - babysue

"Shrewd mixture of bracing pop melodies and mildly deranged lyrics....wondrously stacked vocal harmonies, chugging guitars and woozy vox organ" - Creative Loafing

"Wonderfully catchy, danceable tunes that will take you back to those late ''60s days when Go-Go centers were all the rage" - Amplifier Magazine

Smart power pop meets the groovy sound of the psychedelic sixties in Atlanta-based band Orange Hat. But, the Hat is more than a band - it''s an ongoing multimedia circus. In addition to albums full of songs with cool harmonies and catchy hooks, Orange Hat''s canon of insanity includes a cable access show with an expanded cast of freaks. Step right this way...

Songwriters Christo Harris and David "Zeus" Henderson met in high school and soon discovered a mutual obsession for cool music and weird videos. Recruiting various musicians for the basement studio band, they released a series of D.I.Y. recordings in the glorious cassette format. One of these self-recorded albums entitled Pork! quickly became a classic among friends and fans and inspired an hour-long video release called Pork Rinds. After hooking up with drummer Jason NeSmith and keyboardist John Henry in 1995, the group released Pterodactyl Universe which garnered some good reviews and local airplay . The live band often included Keli Mercadante on vocals, percussion and dust buster. In Spring of 1997, power-popster Kenny Howes joined on the Vox organ. His arrival was just in time for the release of the seven inch vinyl single Humpty Dumpty / Entropy. On their first full length CD, Pufferfish, Orange Hat combined melodic surrealism with the energy of their live show to create their own special brand of twisted pop. Continuing in the great ''do-it-yourself'' tradition, the album production, engineering, mixing, catering, and graphics were all handled by the band.

In early 2002, they debuted The Orange Hat Hour, a weekly half-hour cable tv show that chronicled the real and imaginary adventures of the band. Psychedelic music videos, weird art films, and surreal comedy skits were all thrown into the mix. Across 35 episodes (over 17 hours), the band and a rotating troupe of freaks and weirdos served up an original palette of inspired hilarity.
