"A delightful album of short pieces ... beautifully played and well recorded" (Pan)
"His dazzling mastery of the French literature is evident in this comprehensive survey.....The performances and recording are all first rate and impressive with an openness of tone, intensity of vibrato and clean technique that make these very subtle and complicated pieces sound effortless...This album is a "must-have" for every flute student and teaching studio" The Flute Network.

John Wion was Principal Flutist of the New York City Opera from 1965 to 2002, and drew on this experience to publish a nine volume series of opera excerpt books to help flutists prepare for auditions and performances.

He appeared as a soloist in New York''s major concert halls and at prestigious summer festivals in the United States. He made recital tours with pianist, Gilbert Kalish, and guitarist, Lisa Hurlong, and guest appearances with the Tokyo, Emerson, and Manhattan String Quartets.

He recorded a variety of solo and chamber music repertoire for Lyrichord, Turnabout, Opus1, Musical Heritage, and three CDs on the Hartt Music Productions label. He taught at The Hartt School from 1977, retiring as Professor of Flute in 2007.

In his many visits to Australia and New Zealand he appeared as soloist with all the major orchestras in addition to performing recitals. He was an artist in residence, teaching and performing, in Australia, Italy, Mexico, England, Finland, Peru, and Canada.

His editions and publications have been winners in the National Flute Association''s Newly Published Music Competition and are available from Falls House Press. He was president of the NFA in 1985 and was honored by that organization with its Lifetime Achievement Award in 2007.

His memoirs "Wood, Silver and Gold" have recently been published by Lulu Press (https://www.tradebit.com).
