George Braith. Born in New York City, George began his musical career in elementary school. He has such a great sense of harmonic intuitiveness and melodic order. His work speaks for itself. George has played almost every instrument (he says he doesn''t play the guitar) and invented the Braithophone which is heard on this album. He is a Blue Note and Prestige recording artist.
Sonny Rollins. Of course needs no introduction.
Gil Coggins. A New York native who was born in Harlem Hospital and grew up with Sonny Rollins, Bud Powell, Jackie McClean, Arthur Taylor and other New York born artists who became seminal figures in the history of this music. Known for his prodigious artistic wisdom and brilliant sense of harmony, he has played some of Mils Davis'' most artistically and historically important recordings.
Ronnie Matthews. Also a New York native has a long and distinguished career having had associations with the great saxophonists Johnny Griffin and Dexter Gordon as well as Art Blakey''s Jazz Messengers.
Mark Johnson. Was discovered by George Braith when George managed the Ladies Fort, a club in NOHO.
Jimmy Wormworth. Born in Utica NY, went to Europe with George Braith and his band at the age of 19. Played with Lou Donaldson, Les Jazz Modes, Phineas Newborn, the Mal Waldron Trio, Art Farmer, Kenny Dorham,John Contrane/Booker Little and the Lambert-Hendricks-Ross Trio.
Reggie Bordeaux. Whose father was a great Milwaukee percussionist has an expansive avant guarde approach to harmolodics, and is a close associate of George Braith.
