"It''s just good music" is how we describe the style of The Brown Band. Our mission is for people to see and experience God''s love and acceptance through our lives and music whether on or off of the stage. Led by Justin "Rooster" Graves, a native of San Antonio, Texas, The Brown Band is a rockin'' power trio. Playing a mix of originals and covers consisting of blues, rock, folk and a combination of all three, our music is hard to categorize...hence the term..."it''s just good music" !
Rooster''s background is diverse. From playing youth camps to nightclubs, coffee houses to packed stadiums and everything in between, Rooster is what we would call a true musician. Having the opportunity to play with the likes of Chris Taylor, Ruben V, Waterdeep, The Normals, David Kauffman, the 77''s and many more, he has learned what it takes to be a Godly musician. This job is more than being on stage and singing songs, it is about relationships and loving everyone along the way. Rooster has this gift and it is the backbone of The Brown Band. We strive, daily, to live by our mission and hope that everyone we come in contact with sees God in us.

Why old hymns?
Growing up in a Baptist church, hymns were a main course of the Sunday morning service. Today a common view is that they are old and outdated for worship. However, hymns hold great power in their words, though written hundreds of years ago, they are still relevant to our world today. Our goal was to hold onto those truths, but musically give them a facelift that would be more relatable to this generation. As this was used in worship the response was amazing. People of all ages were singing these wonderful old hymns with a new flair and loving it. Without even trying there was the next CD...12 songs full of timeless wisdom, rich truths and catchy melodies that can be passed onto those we worship with, young and old alike.
Coming up with the name:
While driving to church one Sunday listening to a church choir sing "...on Christ the Solid Rock I stand..." came the reminder that Christ is the foundation of our faith like these hymns are the foundation of our modern praise and worship. The word foundation was the perfect description for the songs we were recording. There was our title!
