Brian Miller has been playing music since the youthful age of five. He started taking guitar lessons from Elmer Ogoreuc and after only one lesson switched to piano. His drive to learn guitar was suppressed until he turned sixteen. He not only taught himself to play guitar, but also learned to play the alto and baritone saxophone. He excelled at the baritone sax for which he was awarded a third place title on the Pennsylvania State High School Band in 1995. He has also been known to "sit in" on drums on occasion.
Brian grew up listening to artists such as Conway Twitty, The Statler Brothers, and a host of others. He was also influenced by oldies groups such as, Tommy James, Del Shannon, The Four Tops, The Temptations, etc. Music is in his soul, and country music is in his heart. Brian started singing semi-professionally in 1998 when he started the band Country Knights with his older brother, Shawn. The band reached significant popularity and was a common name in his hometown and surrounding areas. After the band dissolved, Brian went on his own securing some of the most talented musicians around, forming his new backup band, Tanoma Road.
Songwriting has been a passion of Brian''s for many years. His heartfelt ballads, fast-paced dance tunes, and thoughtful story songs are constant crowd pleasers. His first CD, released in November 2001, featured 6 of his original songs. His newest CD, "We Are Country" includes 9 new original songs.
Brian''s unique sound and pure, energetic talent has been delighting fans locally and throughout Pennsylvania, Ohio, and West Virginia since 1999. His experience playing and singing his original songs for numerous fairs, benefits, festivals, and a series of opening acts for top country artists is reflected in the professionalism and versatility of his performance. Brian''s wide range of instrumental and vocal ability is evident in all of his songs.
As the reigning 2004 Pennsylvania Colgate Country Showdown Champion, Brian represented the state at the regional competition where he took second place. Brian and his band were also recently awarded a second place finish at the 2005 Ohio Colgate Country Showdown competition. Brian is a member of ASCAP, the Nashville Songwriters Association International, and is currently working to bring his band to the national level.
