Hello. Thanks for reading this. My name is Dean Haakenson, and I am sitting in a cubicle as I write what you are reading. I work in Sacramento for the California State Government. it pays well, and I try to do my job the right way. but, man, it can be tedious (I embody the robot, the trained human, the rat race inhabitant, that the phrase "be brave bold robot" is supposed to appeal to...in my mind), and I find that I have gotten myself into an habitual "rutt" or two in my quest for this almighty dollar (which, as I have finally paid off my youthful debts, I am going to try to save). I write songs and play them. I love singing, very much. this is my first effort, this CDBaby profile to try to make some money off of this whole music thing. be a business minded musician. enter the barter system into my cosmic oneness seeking hobby of music and the like. I apologize. in a perfect world, we would all be singing to each other so much that talent wouldn''t be set apart from the daily humdrum. all would shine. all do shine. I''m just trying to sell it. so, below, a bio that I made when I was nominated for the 2006 Sacramento Area Music awards (The SAMMIES), in the Folk Category. This album, "Many Mini Maya" that you might buy, it''s a CD-R, to let you know, but I lovingly drew on it with sharpies, to make it look nice, and the songs are lovingly handcrafted, to be sure.

Dean Haakenson (born in our sweet river city of Sacramento, 28 years of Suburban malaise come Downtown Bicycling) plays music with friends and family (his brother Aaron on drums sometimes) and sometimes alone.
