BLACKSTONE
Was born out of the desire to reconnect in an original yet familiar sound to
the soul music of the 60ties to the 8oties that we so love and respect.
Even though we have yet to accomplish a New World order in many ways, we
still believe that music is the universal language of the soul that mends and
unifies the hearts of all peoples.
Cassandra"Sandy" Reed
hails from Spain by way of Germany and now resides in New York City.
Her journey to NYC, prompted by a deal as an upcoming artist with Warner
Bros. LA, has manifested itself into the "Blackstone" Project. Along the way she
managed to record a # 1 single in Japan titled " Sweet Love" from her debut
album "I Believe", which sold throughout Europe, Japan and the Middle East.
She parlayed her newfound success into more work in the Japanese Market by
also recording her sophomore album " Reed Me" on WEA Japan with US -producers
Andy Marvel and Peter Zizzo. Armed with the follow up success of her sophomore
album, "Sandy" recorded another Hit single named "Light Of Day" which debut on
a Japanese Hit TV- Series.
Before coming to her recent destination" Blackstone" she toured Europe &
Japan on the wave of success from her previous two albums, setting the stage for
the third, her self titled US-debut on Peak! Records.
After touring the US she found herself searching for a new musical home base
for her gypsy soul. She found it in " Blackstone".
JAY LA
hails from California, now residing in NYC, where during his many years of
successfully writing, producing and re-mixing for artists such as: SWV, Adena,
Freddie Jackson, Mark Morrison and Nicka Costa , to name a few, he has made a
name for himself in the Music Industry as a whole, from Hip Hop to soulful
House to Pop music genres.
Because of his many musical abilities such as being a gifted bassist ,
keyboardist, programmer, percussionist, writer and producer , he always has been
searching for something distinctive to represent him as proudly as he produced for
the other artists he worked with.
Calling on his many connections it was Frank Liwall from the Royalty Network
who finally introduced him to Cassandra Reed and he soon realized, that his
brainchild
" Blackstone" that was put on hold for so long could finally come to
fruition. They immediately began writing and producing together what is now the "
Blackstone " album with the effortless passion of two kindred souls.
DANA BYRD
hails from Newark, New Jersey, now residing in NYC.
Dana comes from the classical performance background and knew already since a
youngster that music was his calling.
Still searching for a third member to complete the "Blackstone" family Jay LA
dared not ask his cousin Dana Byrd, who at the time, as always, was busy with
his own projects that span from worldwide successful dance music to being the
steady in-house performer of one of NYC''s most famous live music clubs "The
Groove" to his current solo album: "That ain''t no afro".
Loving the "Blackstone" concept so much and the fact that Jay LA is his real
family, he decided to make time and contribute his soul to "Blackstone"
