Imagine the aurora borealis flickering between your speakers… Instrumental album of arcane psychedelia and romantic, artic circle ambience from former Union Carbide Productions/Soundtrack Of Our Lives guitarist, genius/recluse Bjorn Olsson, whose deft guitar-work and narcotic interludes made TSOOL albums like ''Welcome to the Infant Freebase'' and ''Extended Revelation'' such utterly mindblowing affairs.
The album opens with the startling and surreal frantic steel drum fusion of "Schweinfest", then basks in Olsson’s trademark solarized Morricone--Bo Hanson--Popol Vuh atmospherique and gracefully shades in some Herb Alpert brass, 70s Am Radio, and traditional Swedish folkmusic, before closing with the gargantuan riff and slide guitar groove of "Tema I". Then the entire album is tracked again, the second version filtered through Olsson''s mini-cassette-recorder, which gives the music a strange and warm, appealing quality.
In addition to his past work as a founding member of Union Carbide Productions and The Soundtrack Of Our Lives, Olsson’s guitar skills have landed him in collaborations with Josh Haden (Spain), Mark Eitzel, and Swedish artists too numerous to list here. Released in 2001. “A complex and vivid journey through Bacharach-inspired orchestral pop and soothing psychedelia… Olsson should be applauded for creating a record that reveals the style, grace and attention to detail that Sweden will be remembered for long after this rock fad has faded” (Dusted Reviews).
