Burning In Water are four childhood friends who found themselves and their music in Portland, OR at the turn of the century. Born and raised in a small, industrial northern-Michigan town, they create music that is reflective of where they came from, where they are now, and the future that lies before them. BIW create a sound that is innovative, not immitative; progressive, not pretentious; indie, not exclusionary.
Consistently aware of our rapidly changing social structure and political climate, BIW stands for and creates "freedom rock" in a time of diminishing freedoms.
Their live, high-energy performance has shared the stage with many internationally acclaimed acts: Shiner, The Oranges Band, Karma To Burn, the Mermen, Party of Helicopters, and the Stanford Prison Experiment.
Currently BIW are playing in support of their 5-song ep on We Wish Records entitled "United Snakes."
