Complacent Baby Rock Performed By Binaural People

15 MP3 Songs
ELECTRONIC: Down Tempo, WORLD: Reggae

Details:
There once was a time when Dub The Full Nelson and gtori shared musical ideas over large amounts of coffee and movie rental late fees in a small upstate New York apartment.

Though recently Dub and gtori united briefly in the greater Boston area to record "Two Player Lullabies." Converging in Airline’s Studios on Tuesdays they wrote an album of lulling complacent baby-rock anthems.

Binaural - Two Player Lullabies (g25 Productions)

Binaural is the current collaborative project of New York State electro-baby-pop practitioners gtori and Dub The Full Nelson. As its title may allude, debut longplayer Two Player Lullabies, represents a playful ride through the world of rudimentary computer and keyboard pop. Filled with cute, blocky beats and circular synth lines, the record bounces from summery atmospherics and kiddie-pop melodics, to bubbly bass and dub-infused ditty-craft. And with song titles like ‘Inflatable Shoes’, ‘Theme For Children’s Walkman’ and ‘Denver Omelette’, it seems that Binaural’s musical direction is no accident. Indeed, Dub The Full Nelson and gtori share a love for tunes of the infantile persuasion. Nevertheless, Two Player Lullabies is no joke. In fact, it’s a catchy, pretty and rewarding listen, filled with ample quirk and charm. The lilting dub groove and effect-riddled vocal of ‘Shake Your Pachyderm’, and the Lego block rhythms of ‘Golf Shoes’ only serve as proof. There’s a lovely sense of hope and wonderment to this record; a kind of wide-eyed, retro take on futurism. With Two Player Lullabies, Binaural have transported us to a time where kids with bowl haircuts play Atari, eat Fruit Loops and drive flying, remote control bubble cars. Mama, I done boo boo!
