No Regrets – this Toronto-based singer/songwriter’s first album release, is a collection of songs that speak to the idea of everyday people realizing the potential in now and the future. The result is a record that really expresses Scott’s thoughts about the connections that can come and go between people, often with a longing
and a hope of something everlasting.
Recorded at Haggarty Sound Studios, No Regrets marks the beginning of Scott’s return to music in a whole new light as a singer / songwriter. “It was fantastic to work with producer Barry Haggarty, guiding this project to its conclusion. The most fun I have ever had was being part of the action creating something that is entirely new and original. It has been very exciting and very fulfilling to go through this creative process.”
Canadian born, Scott grew up an hour east of Toronto, just south of Peterborough Ontario. His first inspiration, like many, came when he heard the Beatles & Elton John as a kid. There was always music in his house. Johnny Cash and Gordon Lightfoot and countless others rang out on acoustic guitars at family events and get togethers.
From an early age Scott sang. He went from choir boy to folk singer, then singing in the high school musicals. From high school onward, Scott played nearly eight years in rock and pop cover bands and traveled throughout Ontario. It was his major preoccupation to the end of college.
Christmas 2007 Scott decided it was time to record. After more than 15 years of writing it was time to put his best foot forward and he approached a producer and musicians who had been a fan of Scott’s for many years. Barry Haggarty and Scott got together and to put the music down. At the end of 2008, after months of preparation, they went into the studio and started the sessions to put it together. “Writing helped to boil things down to what was really important to me. This record is inspired by and dedicated to my wife and her encouragement to go
into the studio and make the best album I could.”
