Guitar & bass player Sven Horlemann finally releases his first instrumental rock album.
After dedicating the last years between his bands High Road Easy & Ocean Bed, it was time to finish the 11 tracks first demoed in March 2008.
''Putting the song first, meaning that you need to have a melody you can sing along'' says Sven, and adds ''You need to have a certain technical level but without groove, tone, articulation all those notes won''t reach the emotions of the listener.''
Free Flow was the first song to be written, and it is more or less a jam on one single theme. Recorded like a live session, it consist of drums, bass and one guitar.
Highway 203 is a straight rocker and reminds me of Joe Satriani''s Summer Song.
Slow Groove is inspired from a classical idea (from Joseph Haydn), but manages to develop into a great rock songs with, ahem, a slow groove.
Wishes is a beautiful ballad. The lead guitar is the original lead from the songwriting demos. ''It is so beautiful, I had to keep it'' admits Sven.
The Riddler was written in 2009. It features a tapping ideas, a bit of jammy bar playing and ends with a huge jam part recorded live in the studio.
