Details:
The Deep Fryed Acoustiblasters’ debut CD is a sizzlin’ hot blend of originality, innovation and energy. With contributions from five accomplished talents and a dazzling guest performance by acclaimed fiddle player Michael Cleveland, this fresh recording is steeped in innovation without leaving behind tradition. There are thirteen listed tracks on the CD, twelve of them penned by the band members and a welcome surprise ending of a stellar guitar version of the traditional instrumental, “Beaumont Rag.”
Right from the start, the group takes its audience on a Deep Fryed ride with a kickin’ piece called “Barnburner.” From the instrumentation to the vocals, it has a pace which seems to leave the listener breathless in its musical running. The two following songs (“Tradewinds” and the swing styled “Day Into Night”) continue to showcase banjo player Dave Frye’s tasteful song writing ability, as well as offering up innovative musicianship and catchy melodies. Bass player Scott Nelson brings the blues in his soulfully written song, “My Lady” then easily transitions into the beautifully sung four-part harmonies of “Choir of Angels.” Harvey Mosteller has a chance to showcase his song-writing diversity as the CD progresses from the aforementioned originally written gospel tune into the instrumental excursion entitled “Turpitude.” Next up is the John Gates penned “First Time.” With fiddle player Steve Goodman lending hauntingly beautiful passages, this song literally causes the listener to become lost in its bitter-sweetness. That feeling doesn’t last long as the gritty themed “Superhighway” jars you into a bouncy ride, with hard hitting instrumentation and lyrics to match!
The Reggae styled “Love’s Story” proves to be a perfect example of this group’s vocal harmony abilities by offering up large portions of intricate vocal harmony lines and rhythms. The Deep Fryed Acoustiblasters’ version of the Louvin Brothers’ “I Wish You Knew” brings a tight upbeat tempo, accented by memorable instrumental breaks to this wonderful mainstay of traditional Country and Bluegrass. Melancholy and a bit of Spanish musical flair underline the hypnotic song, “The Sentinel” as it tells of vision from a bird of prey’s perspective. Changing gears, the CD jaunts into a rousing Bluegrass Gospel, “The Way, The Truth, And the Life.” It’s almost impossible not to sing along with this one! When the distant Banjo and Fiddle intro begins on the final listed track, “Welcome to Stringtown,” you are about to be taken to a time in the past where lawlessness is the rule and intricate instrumentation punctuates the storytelling harmony. While it is clear that the Deep Fryed Acoustiblasters thrive on original works and improvisational musical stretches, the traditional taste of the finest Bluegrass find their way into this multifaceted CD.

It’s time to get Deep Fryed in music!
