Pianist/composer Dan Haerle is the leader of the Dan Haerle Trio, whose current CD release is Standard Procedure (Blujazz). After receiving record-breaking national radio airplay, the CD was selected as one of Downbeat Magazine’s Best CDs of 2005. Dan has performed with such artists as Mel Torme, Al Jarreau, Pat Metheny, Joe Henderson, Dave Liebman, Woody Shaw, Slide Hampton, Stan Kenton and Clark Terry. His compositions have been recorded by such jazz greats as pianist Bill Evans. He is featured on Janice Borla’s CDs, including her current release From Every Angle, as well as his own previous release The Truth of the Matter (Seagull Records).

From 1977 to 2002 Dan served on the prestigious music faculty of the University of North Texas, and in January, 2003 he was inducted into the International Association of Jazz Educators Hall of Fame. He has written several instructional methods which are widely used as texts at schools throughout the world, including his most recent, Jazz Piano Voicing Skills: A Method for Individual or Class Study. A well-known jazz clinician, he has served as a staff member of the National Stage Band Camps, the Stan Kenton Jazz Camps, the Clark Terry Great Plains Jazz Camp and the Jamey Aebersold Combo-Improvisation Camps. Ever on the forefront of jazz education, Dan has recently presented several online workshops as a clinician for the newly-formed ALIVE Project (Accessible Live Internet Video Education). He has been a faculty artist member of the Janice Borla Vocal Jazz Camp since 1990.

Drummer Jack Mouse’s extensive background began when, upon graduating from college, he spent three years as featured soloist with the U.S. Air Force Academy Falconaires. He has since performed with such outstanding jazz artists as Stan Kenton, Clark Terry, Herb Ellis, Joe Williams, Carl Fontana, James Moody, Randy Brecker, Frank Wess, Kai Winding and the Jack Reilly Trio. A member of the Janice Borla Group since 1985, Jack can be heard on Janice’s CDs Lunar Octave (DMP), Agents of Change (Blujazz), and her current Blujazz release From Every Angle. Also a member of the Dan Haerle Trio, he is heard on The Truth of the Matter (Seagull Records) and their current release Standard Procedure (Blujazz).

Currently the Coordinator of Jazz Studies at North Central College, Jack has also served on the faculties of the American Conservatory of Music, Benedictine University, Saskatchewan School of the Arts, Clark Terry Great Plains Jazz Camp, National Stage Band Camps, Jamey Aebersold Combo-Improvisation Camps and Birch Creek Farm Academy for the Performing Arts. As a member of the Bunky Green Quartet he was among the first musicians to introduce jazz education to the Montreux Jazz Festival. Jack’s multi-faceted career has been the subject of recent interviews in Modern Drummer and Jazz Improv magazines. In 2005 he was a featured artist during the first online Virtual Percussion Festival presented by the ALIVE Project (Accessible Live Internet Video Education) at the University of Manitoba. He has been a faculty artist member of the Janice Borla Vocal Jazz Camp since its founding in 1989.

Bassist Bob Bowman, a native Kansan, joined the Thad Jones-Mel Lewis Band after attending the University of North Texas and remained with the band long enough to record two albums. His performance credits read like a veritable “Who’s Who” of jazz, including such artists as Karrin Allyson, Billy Taylor, Carl Fontana, Bobby Shew, Arnie Lawrence, Joe Williams, the Matteson-Phillips Tuba Jazz Consort, the Janice Borla Group and many others. He traveled throughout the U.S. and Japan with Carmen McRae and is an alumnus of the Toshiko Akyoshi-Lew Tabackin Band. Bob currently leads the jazz group “Interstring.” He can be heard on Janice Borla’s CDs Lunar Octave (DMP), Agents of Change (Blujazz), and her current Blujazz release From Every Angle. A well-known jazz educator/clinician, Bob has served on the faculties of the National Stage Band Camps, the Jamey Aebersold Combo Camps, the Clark Terry Great Plains Jazz Camp, the Saskatchewan School of the Arts, the Rich Matteson Telluride Jazz Camp and the ISOMATA Jazz Camp. At present he is a member of the University of Missouri/Kansas City Faculty Jazztet. Bob was a founding member of the Janice Borla Vocal Jazz Camp artist faculty in 1989.
