Mandalas are used in various spiritual traditions to help establish a sacred space and to aid in meditation. In Tibetan Buddhism, their intricate designs are often made from colored sand during a meditative process that can take days or weeks to finish. As a reminder of the impermanence of all things, when completed, the sand mandala is deliberately destroyed. The sand is placed in a stream or river where it can distribute its positive energies and blessings.
Piano Mandalas is music that is spontaneously inspired and flows in a meditative way. My music shares the mandala''s quality of impermanence as each improvised piece will be played only once. This recording captures several selections which I hope, when heard, will evoke a sense of sacred space tranquility and compassion.
