Review by Holger Andrea, https://www.tradebit.com, translated from German:
"Expect the unexpected. I was skeptical at first about the band Nightshade; which consists of ressurected members of legendary Q5. A fatal mistake! With intense enjoyment they have released their newest masterpiece, "Stand & Be True" . Okay, so everyone already knows the singer, Jonathan Scott K., has golden pipes. That''s a fact. It''s also a fact that Rick isn''t too shabby on Guitar. But I compel you, does that automatically mean that a team like this are always good composers? Unfortunately, not always.

The opener "On The Road To Madness" indeed made my jaw drop and my body shake uncontrollably. I ask you, how cool is that? The american quartet fondly reminds me of the NWoBHM ( New Wave of Brittish Heavy Metal) legends- DEMON. The indulgent and at the same time highly melodic notes of this number pounded it''s way into my ears. You can hear right away that these are old pros, because the construction of the music is so compelling that after listening to it just once, you are captivated; and this state of enthusiasm doesn''t fade even after continuous listening. That is the definition of a masterpiece. The ability to write melodies that sustain after time and don''t get old too quick. That is exactly what makes Nightshade''s "On the Road to Madness"so succesfull.

The following "Lucifer''s Angel" is at least in regards to tempo a bit more restrained, but in this circumstance it doesn''t damage the quality of the thumping hard rock. It hooks you and settles immediately in your head. Jonathan roars through a throaty opening peak, which fits perfectly with the identity of the song and singer, bringing back feelings of nostalgia.
The gloomy "Undead" is comparable, and in this one nightshade really shows you what the are capable of. Why can''t more musicians write like this?

"The walls of Derry" takes the album to a melancholy place. Before getting to the two parter "Strange Aeons", which has power and mystique; I unfortunately have to point ot a negative critique. The first part of the instrumental is a little drawn out. Afterwards they make up for it with the title song, shredding with so much emotion and theatrics, I needed as tissue. Solumn and controlled (unromantics might throw around the word kitsch) this number unfolds magically in a way I haven''t heard in a recording in a long time. Anyone that thinks the chorus at the end was too long should go and listen to S.O.D. Thanks.

After that it''s almost too much, as if you couldn''t possibly take anymore... but Nightshade doesn''t let the listener down on a melancholy note. They serve up " We Will Fight" and the extremely cool "Time" which conclusively leaves you with two superb helpings on your plate. Good to have.

Anyone who is a fan of melodic heavy metal needs to pick this one up! This album compared to all musical superlatives is full equipped with an authentic sound. Compulsory orgasm!

Recomended songs: "On The Road To Madness"; "Stand And Be True"; "Time"."
