Details:
Blue Moon Music Group is excited about their second album, Bayou Roots, featuring Pine Leaf Boys, The Figs, & Drew Landry. Recorded live at Roadhouse Rags in Austin, TX during the Southwest Louisiana 2009 SXSW showcase, this album captures the essence of our music from home – eclectic, raw, and most of all, authentic.

Louisiana''s finest, three-time Grammy-Nominated Pine Leaf Boys have made a name for presenting their own inimitable brand of Cajun music with youthful exuberance. Hailing from southwest Louisiana, the Pine Leaf Boys are known for their wild shows and thoughtful arrangements. They have breathed new life into Cajun music, reviving ancient songs and bringing them to the bandstand. Being described as, "... the link that connects the young and the old generations," and, "the best new, energetic, and fun Cajun band in a very long time," the Pine Leaf Boys play the old fashion dance hall standards while making a priority to bring many of the more obscure songs of past masters into their repertoire and play them with gusto.

The Figs, a six-piece female folk ensemble, are untouchable with the aesthetic character of an Old Timey princess and the musical brilliance of a group of friends destined to make magic happen over night. "The Figs, a six-piece outta Lafayette, Louisiana are a bit like what would happen if The Pipettes decided to wear flowery as opposed to polka-dotted dresses, traded in their keyboards for banjos and were just generally more Fig-like. The sassy sextet stomp their feet and bat their eyelashes as they hoot, holler and coo their own interpretations of Louisiana roots rock." Alexis Swerdoff, Paper Magazine, New York, NY.

While Drew Landry’s self released albums have landed on the Euro-Americana chart, his appeal is more than just hustle. Landry is a legit old school balladeer who weaves down home and ultra honest songs. Part good ol’ boy, part conspiracy-minded politically incorrect pundit, he draws comparisons to Bob Dylan, Townes Van Zandt and Woody Guthrie. Though he sounds like he just ate a large, greasy meal and washed it down with a whiskey-soaked night on the town, his slightly nasal voice has its own unique appeal.

The Blue Moon Saloon opened in April of 2002 on the back porch of the Blue Moon Guesthouse and has since established itself as one of America’s premier venues for roots music from around the globe, and the best place to hear Cajun and Zydeco music in Lafayette. This world famous honky tonk works hard to keep the local culture alive and well, and is proud to bring live shows such as Bayou Roots to Lafayette’s daily life.
