"He has blessed me with the priviledge of spreading His Gospel through song, I guess he wanted a real ridah so he choose me" proclaims Arthur Barry.
Born and raised on the beautiful Island of St. Croix in the U.S. Virgin Islands and not having a church background, Barry explains that he got saved while serving a 5-year prison term for manslaughter. "When I use the term saved I mean in accordance with Acts 2:38 which says: "Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.""
He claims to have never had much musical inclination to speak of but gives his testimony of an event back in December of 2005 that he describes as "peculiar". As he lay in bed in the middle of the night Barry felt two hands momentarily cover his ears and not being sure what was going he decided to pray. "As I opened up my mouth to pray the song "in the name of Jesus is what came out; in the twinkling of an eye I got the lyrics, melody, everything, and I found myself singing it at the top of my lungs at 4am". Barry told his pastor''s wife what happened and she encouraged him to record the song. After recording that song the Lord delivered another, and another, and another in similar manner until there were enough songs to fill an entire CD.
What has been released in July of 06 under the World Athirst Label (Independent) is Barry''s debut EP that includes 6 tracks and is titled "In The Name Of Jesus". The full CD will be released, should the Lord permit, toward the end of the year. Due to the means by which the songs were delivered by God Barry thought it fitting to have titled the CD "Jesus Writes the Songs". He fully believes that contained in these songs is a message that Jesus is sending to the entire world in these endtimes and explains that as the reason for the eclectic and broad collection of styles represented on the project which have all been blended together by the hand of the Father in a perfect manner only He could achieve. Barry has a much simpler description of the project; "Its a touch on the earlobes from God, figuratively and literally."
In predicting His crucifiction Jesus said "If I be lifted up from the earth I will draw all men unto me" That is the sole musical mission Barry has been given; Lift up the name of Jesus and let HIM draw men (and women) unto HIMself.
