BIOGRAPHY:
With a strong, scruffy jawline and muscular build, it might seem easy to be intimidated by this Southern heartbreaker. But once Alexander Webb starts singing the sweetly sad lyrics in his rocking lullabies, you can''t help but think he''s just the boy next door. The second of four boys in his Dallas home, Alexander became an athletic
force early in life. He started playing football at the age of 10 and went on to play quarterback for his championship football team in high school. Everyone knows where football stands in Texans'' lives, but Alexander held tight to his passion for music, sneaking into churches and schools for late-night sessions on the piano and guitar.
Thanks to an impressive record of wins in Texas, Alexander was heavily recruited by colleges across the country and accepted a football scholarship at Northwestern University. In his first college game he completed 8 passes before being pinned between two opposing
team members. Alexander thought he''d only had the wind knocked out of him, but doctors soon discovered that his liver had been lacerated.
Unable to play football for 6 months or even exercise, Alexander threw himself into his music, resulting in what he now classifies as a blessing in "complete" disguise.
With the time and freedom to develop his skills and take his music public, Alexander could always be found guitar-in-hand playing across campus. He formed the band Whitsend with friends, writing,co-producing, singing and playing guitar and keys. With the four-member group, Alexander toured all over the Midwest, from urban Chicago jazz lounges to hole-in-the-wall bars in Iowa. Eventually the members of Whitsend went their separate ways, and Alexander refocused on a solo career.
Having just completed his first solo recording, Alexander enjoys performing as a solo acoustic artist at venues throughout Chicago and its suburbs. Blessed with a down-home Southern vibe and Midwestern charm (not to mention his mellowly raspy voice), this rebel-with-a-cause is charting his own artistic course without forgetting his homegrown roots.
