"I was very surprised a few years ago when I discovered that Andy Logan from the band LITTLE AMERICA (a real faveband of mine) was out with a brand new solo album. I gave the album a really good review cause it was worth every penny of the investment.
Now it''s time for Andy to follow up "Last Dance On The Wild Frontier" and musically he''s taken the music down to a more rootsy and swampy sounding album and it suits him well.
If I should try to explain for you what type of music we''re talkin about, I could say that we have a mixture of Matthew Ryan, Wilco, Ryan Adams, Steve Earle and Paul Westerberg in the man and his album.
The lovely ''Halfway There'' is one little pearl, the acoustic based ''Ride'' with a touch of Jayhawks another, and ''Battleground'', with an album progressive 70''s undertone added to the sound, is also a damn good tune. And there are plenty more on here.
The album is also an album that grows with each listen and when you hear Andy''s raspy and naked voice singing the refrain to ''Behind The Curtain'', you can''t do anything else than love the man and his music." Par Winberg, https://www.tradebit.com

As we (to use the cliche) “journey through life”, we amass a host of experiences, some good, some bad, and many simply mundane. Andy Logan explores some of these different experiences and emotions in “Ride”, paying careful attention to leave out the mundane.
There’s anger (Ominous), sadness (Low), love (Soul Inspiration), lust (Move A Little Faster), reflection (Ghosts), transition (Behind The Curtain), and death (Til We Meet), to name a few.
A self-described recluse, Andy Logan is a bit odd, or at least anachronistic. He drives a 1968 Mustang, has three working antique rotary phones in his house, a vast record collection, and has, with his wife Alison, restored their bathroom to exactly how it was back in 1928 (When the house was built). What little TV he does watch is on an old black and white. He has a passion for old radio shows, refuses to own a cell phone, and rides (as the cd attests) a vintage Schwinn bicycle. Most importantly though, Andy Logan records to tape. “It’s a lost art”, Andy says. “But if I want those vocals to sound warm enough and those acoustic guitars to sound fat enough, I have to use tape.”
In recording “Ride”, Andy plays most of the instruments himself, leaning heavily on his ’71 Gibson SG custom for the electric guitar work, and his old Ibanez for the acoustic stuff. Kurt Custer (Steve Earle, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Little America) again plays drums, and Lynyrd Skynyrd icon Ed King demonstrates some of his finest slide work since “The Ballad of Curtis Lowe”. Nashville symphony violinist Kristi Seehafer, and bassist Paul Slivka (Tommy Conwell and The Young Rumblers) also add dramatic touches to the musical landscape.
Slightly bluesier than his first solo cd, “Last Dance On The Wild Frontier” (thanks to Logan’s obsession with R.L. Burnside, Free, and Peter Green’s Fleetwood Mac), “Ride” nevertheless has some very melodic pop sensibilities as well, and because of its eclectic nature, should simply be filed under “Really damn good”.
