Details:
Once on stage one of the guys forgot his routine and Steve, feeling the effects of the liquor, quickly filled in with some rhymes that he''d been secretly writing. The crowd went wild, the fellows won the contest hands down and Steve Austin, the Bionic MC was born.

While Steve was more than happy to make his rounds doing the talent show circuit in Donaldsonville, he never dreamed that his extraordinary talent would one day lead him to a record deal. Steve says that even though he knew he had skills, the possibility of ever landing a deal seemed so remote that by the time he graduated from high school, he simply enrolled in college to prepare for his future as a network engineer.

Initially attending LSU on a partial track scholarship, the Bionic MC soon found a full scholarship next door at Southern University, where he soon found himself at the top of a pile of highly skilled MCs such as David Banner of the critically acclaimed group Crooked Lettaz.

Soon Steve Austin''s reputation as a fierce battle MC traveled outside of Baton Rogue. Steve soon found himself battling and beating every other MC that came his way, including the former No Limit Soldier Fiend and Electra recording artist Fabulous. In addition, he won several battles around the country including the internet''s esteemed Cyber Clash, where he polished off more than 3 dozen MCs for the victory. Eventually Steve''s reputation would earn him national recognition as both Rap Sheet and Rap Pages singled him out as an MC to watch in the future. In fact, Steve was one the last to be honored with a listing in Rap Page''s About to Blow section.

In 2000, Steve dropped the Singularity: A Hip-Hop Epiphany white label and created a huge buzz in underground hip hop circles across the country. The single garnered air play on several mix-shows and was a big favorite on college radio down South. But, despite all of that, he still wasn''t able to land a record deal. By this time Steve had graduated from college with a degree in Physics and moved to Dallas to work for a local computer company.

Soon he begins making his rounds among the Dallas hip hop community, waxing local MCs by the score. Word got out that there was a new rapper in town and he was hot as hell. Prompted by the love he received in Dallas Steve decided to try his hand at recording one more white label called "H.A.T.E.R.S. Anonymous." Once again Steve scored a hit. "H.A.T.E.R.S. Anonymous" became one of the hottest independent singles in Dallas. Everyone from mix show jocks to strippers was spinning the record. Consequently, it was a stripper that led Steve to a recording contract with Starlicity records.

"One day we were at a bachelor party and one of the girls had forgotten her CD. One of my boys had my CD and put it one for her. She had danced to it before because a lot of strippers had my CD and liked dancing to my song Haters. She started dancing and everybody started saying, "man who''s that"? This is tight! The CEO of Starlicity was there also. He was one of the first ones asking people about it. When he found out it was me he told me; "man, when you get your project together holla at us". Several months later I got the album together and brought it to him and told him to show me something. And he came at me correctly. Now here we are.

Built for This is Steve Austin''s debut and, according to him, the title says it all.

"The title is basically self-explanatory," says the cocky MC. "When it comes to this hip hop shit, I was built for this. No one, repeat, no one, can touch me when it comes to this. I will crush any rapper who even thinks about testing me on the mic."
