Details:
Minneapolis-based, college-radio hit-makers The Autumn Leaves have recently returned with the follow-up to the international, critical success of their debut CD "Treats and Treasures." The album "The Twilight Hours of The Autumn Leaves" dreams a new cosmos of lush guitars, soaring vocal harmonies and wonderful pop arrangements. Nine tracks strong, the album listens like a pop symphony and flows as though written and performed in one brilliant burst of creativity. "Twilight Hours" is a warmer, more luxuriant evocation of leader David Beckey''s paisley worldview and as a musical cornucopia of sound melds guitar, bass and drums with organ, piano, cello and flute, sleigh bells, tambourine and bongos, male and female vocal and of course David''s new wah-wah pedal. The album bursts with lyrical romanticism and vivid imagery. "Maria''s Hat" is a children''s tale with a dark oeuvre but sunny denouement all set to swirling beat. "Morning" moves with a mournful melancholy and narrates an urgent plea - "the morning will bring me to you." The stirring mini-opus "Seaside Symphony" is what real surf music should be about. "The Light Brigade of Fireflies", a colorful psychotropic song, makes you believe in the power of imagination as your narrator is "floating past the water lilies, smiling in the sun." "Twilight Hours" is the hallmark of a band which finds theirmuse in the mod, beat and psychedelia of the mid to late 1960''s but whose own broad range and imagination conjure up the next step in brilliant, thoughtful guitar pop-rock.

The Autumn Leaves are David Beckey, Stephanie Winter, Scott Berndt, and Dwight Erickson.

Press excerps regarding The Autumn Leaves'' "Treats and Treasures" cd
"Ace songwriting, an enchanting record: Perfectpop"-Jim Walsh, St. Paul Pioneer Press, 1997

"It''s a seam of psychedelic gentility, by the time it segues into the joyously redemptive closer "The Summer''s Gone" you''ll be drafting the fan letter. If this is what the Autumn Leaves are capable of creating on their own meagre finances, the mind boggles at the lush delights a major label transfer might yield."-Peter Paphides, Time Out London, September 16th, 1998

"David Beckey is a stylish romantic who sees the world through kaleidoscope lenses, and he''s not too self-conscious to report it that way. "Why Must You Feel So Sad" is a gorgeous Pet Sounds-like chamber ballad; and the sunrise-soaked "When I Close My Eyes" leaps back to early -70''s art-rock acoustics. "
-Simon Peter Groebner, City Pages, October 29, 1997 & January 21, 1998
