Paintbox are a trio from Halmstad, Sweden, consisting of three experienced musicians with impressive and varied CVs. With their individual cello based sound and genre crossing music, Paintbox have started conquering the hearts of music lovers around the world.
Paintbox was founded a couple of years ago when Linnea Olsson and Gicken Johansson started writing music together. With drummer Magnus Helgesson they formed Paintbox. Paintbox released their debut album Bright Gold and Red (Wild Chance Music WCM 001) in December 2008, to warm critical acclaim. At the moment the band is writing and recording songs for their second full lenght album. Paintbox music is characterized by collective creativity, curiosity and experiments all abiding one rule only: “There are no rules”. The band members all share a lack of prestige, which makes for a warm and natural environment, as well on record as captured live on stage.
