Singer songwriter Roberto Marrone introduces his first all original CD called ONE. The album is comprised primarily of Italian material, with two of the eleven tracks in English.
The CD is the result of a reflective time in Roberto’s life and of his journey to the rediscovery of his Italian roots. Dedicated to his father, the CD is as such, an homage to the beauty of the Italian language and culture.
Throughout the years, it was obvious to those around Roberto that there existed a lasting connection with music and that his interest in different instruments was more than just mild curiosity. It was with his first guitar, at the age of twelve, that Roberto’s passion for learning and creating music would lead him to study a multitude of musical styles – from classical to rock, blues, jazz, and electronic, to name but a few.
All the while, Roberto also played in a number of local bands and contributed guitar session work to several local artists. Playing with others would prove to be most gratifying and further expand his musical knowledge and appreciation. Exposure to UK, Latin, and World beats would also present him with new sonic possibilities and would colour his early compositions. Roberto continues to be influenced by new sounds and technologies, and strives to develop his own unique sound.
About ONE, Roberto says, “I think for most of us, music is a great way to express emotions and feelings we might otherwise have difficulty discussing. In many ways the album surprised me. Certain songs I wrote with an acoustic guitar and with somewhat melancholy lyrics took on new direction, set up against more upbeat melodies. Proof, I realize, that we can move through the challenges life presents us without forgetting our past, but rather made stronger by it. I’m proud of the outcome of this music and sincerely hope that others will connect with it”.
