Details:
Diggunim Trees was composed and recorded in the spring of 2006 at 8-Fold Path Recording Studio in Minnetonka, Minnesota. It''s for two guitars. The second guitar part was notated then recorded. The first guitar part was then improvised over the second part. This gives the music a sense of containment and freedom and the familiar mixed with the unfamiliar.

The tracks are images of nature, but towards the end they evolve into reflections on the Buddhist Brahmaviharas (loving-kindness, compassion, appreciative joy and equanimity). The tag line, "Seeing Nature, One Knows the Dhamma", comes from an Ajahn Chah quote. He was a Buddhist monk and teacher in the Thai Forest Tradition. These set of pieces were originally conceived for a Buddhist group''s website in the UK and are meant to be generally meditative and restful, but they are not your usual "new age" fare. Have a listen and see what they stir up.

I (Jay) want to thank recording engineer Greg Bernett at 8-Fold Recording Studio for his time and talents. I also want to thank the Minnesota spring rain (we had three days of it), while we worked on this effort. The rain makes an appearance towards the end of the recording.

Diggunim Trees was recorded using a cedar top Ramirez classical guitar circa the early 1970''s.
