Details:
This album features the legendary guiarist, Jimmy Bryant, along with the King of the pedal steel guitarists, Buddy Emmons. Recorded live at Rogers Musicland in Muskegon, Michigan, this album was never released til now. It was recorded in 1976 and features some of the best jazz that a steel guitar can produce along with the great stylings of Jimmy Bryant. Both artists are known worldwide. Jimmy Bryant was a partner with Speedy West and were top session players on the West coast during the forties and fifties having backed up some legendary singes such as Bing Crosby, Sinatra and about anyone else in the business. Jimmy was known for his original phrasings and his abilities in the jazz field as well as the rockabilly and country fields. Jimmy played the first telecaster ever made by Leo Fender. Buddy Emmons is considered the foremost pedal steel guitarist. He is considered the king of the pedal steel and really has no peers. He went to New York in the early sixties and recorded an album with some jazz musicians who were blown away by Buddy''s abilities at improvising on the pedal steel guitar. Buddy was part of the Dave Burley''s Cavalcade Of Guitars recorded concert in Dallas, Texas in 1976 which featured who''s who in jazz........Howard Roberts, Tal Farlow, Les Paul, Herb Ellis, Bucky Pizzarelli, Louie Bellson, Slam Stewart, Johnny Gore and four other pedal steel guitarists. Doug Jernigan, Julian Tharpe, Maurice Anderson and Curly Chalker. That concert featured all of the above musicians on stage at the same time for what has been called ''The Jam Session Of The Century.'' This album features Jimmy and Buddy recording for the first and only time featuring just the two of them along with Johnny Gore from Mel Tillis band on saxaphone. This album features all the background chatter along with tuning and a little bit of quik rehearsing as it was unplanned.
